For many, the beginning of a new year means recommitting to a healthy lifestyle. Often, that includes a new diet. It seems an increasing number of diets are focused primarily on helping us get healthier. Yay! The dubious trend of quick-fix dieting won’t be missed. Losing weight should be secondary, I think. Why?
Because I believe we can be outside of arbitrary standards and parameters and still be healthy. Just as I feel a slender person, seemingly healthy, can be anything but. So, let's focus on getting healthier this year, okay? Let's change our eating habits if we need to. Let's make good food choices.
But wait. What IS a good food choice? Which diet? Paleo, keto, vegan…some other one? What if we have allergies or gut issues? What if we're more couch potato and less athlete? What if we break out in hives at the word “diet”?
Do you get overwhelmed with all the choices? I'm glad I'm not alone. When researching for this post, I ran across 40 different diets! There's no one-size-fits-all.
I pulled together a sample of 13 informative and interesting diet blogs and websites. Naturally, check with your health care provider before taking the diet leap. Dig in!

Improving your physical health is a worthwhile goal, but not the whole picture. Remember to nurture your emotional, psychological, and spiritual health as well. Practice giving, too: “there is more happiness in giving than in receiving,” Jesus said. He knows. Have a happy, healthy 2018!
